The Youth Centre of Oikos was established on February 19th 2011 by a group of active youngsters of our community who wanted to create an organisation different from the existing ones, as well as a place especially dedicated to the youth.
The Administrative Committee of the Youth Centre is formed by the following members:

TheCommunityCouncilofOikosandtheDistrictYouthCentresCommitteeof Morphou also contributed to the establishment of the Youth Centre of Oikos.
TheYouthCentrenumbersapproximately 30 membersanditsprimaryobjectiveisto acquireitsownbuilding the management of which will provide income that will cover the Centre’s operation expenses. ThecreationofthisestablishmentaimsatcoveringtheneedsoftheyouthoftheCommunityandatkeeping them busy in a healthy and productive way.
Additionally, the following objectives have also been set among others:
- Tohelp all the youth of our Community progress and prosper.
- Toprovideyoungpeoplewith the opportunity to participate and assume responsibilities in the cultural and social development and growth of our community and the wider region in general.
- Tocontributeinmaintaining the youth in the Community.
- TocreatesportsclubssuchasFootball, MiniFootball (futsal), Basketball andVolleyball clubs, as well as cultural clubs such as Dance, Folk and Agricultural Clubswhich can show a rich activity in both sports and culture.
- Toholdeducationalseminarsandtoorganisevariouscardgamecontests or bingos with monetary and other prizes.
- ToholdEasterevents which will revive old traditional games.
- Tocontributepositivelytotheprogressanddevelopment of our small community as well as to the effort to strengthen its bonds with its expatriates.
- To make efforts to educate our youth by organising excursions and other events such as carnival parties, Easter and Christmas games, as well as movie showings.
- To work hard to provide the youth of the Community of Oikos with educational, entertainment and exercising opportunities. This way the Centre will meet its purpose of existence which is to ensure that the youth are creatively occupied with various kinds of activities and events, this way contributing to the protection of youngsters from the problems and dangers that threaten them today.
The Youth Centre organizes the annual Carnival Dance, environmental campaigns, cleanliness campaigns and many others. Additionally, the Centre collaborates with the Cultural Association of Oikos, the Association of Expatriates of Oikos and the Community Council of Oikos.
